What is Gam3rCon all about?

Gam3rCon is a year round organization that hosts events for the gaming community. Every year, Gam3rCon puts on an annual convention that brings together the world of video games and interactive entertainment into a week long celebration of fun, games, and gaming inspired-art. From the earliest traditions of dice and cards to the most popular games in the digital sphere, Gam3rCon is committed to providing variety to the gaming community.

Is Gam3rCon associated with Comic-Con?

No, Gam3rCon is a Convention for Gamers by Gamers. We are in our 7th Year of operation, and we are an independent gaming convention with no assocaition to Comic-Con San Diego.

Does my Comic-Con badge get me in to Gam3rCon?

I purchased a Day Pass, what day is it for?

To use your day pass simply check in on the day you wish to attend. Will call will give you a pass for that day!

Is there a separate charge for events within Gam3rCon?

Your day pass grants you admission to all activities within Gam3rCon, including the theatre, rooftop parties, panels, gaming lounges, gaming demos, and some of the gaming tournaments that earn Dragon Coins. Signups are on a first come first serve basis, concert wristbands are on a first come first basis. Tickets and times for specific video game tournaments can be found here. Concessions, food and alcohol are available for an additional cost.

Can I reserve a seat for a panel or gaming event?

There are no signups for panels, take a look at our schedule and make sure to plan a few extra minutes to get a good seat. Certian gaming events, such as our Gam3rCon Olympic, and Touranments that require ticket buy-ins are on a first come first serve basis. Lighting Tournaments and Random Encounters are rewarded with Dragon Coins, so if you are interested keep an eye out and make those preception checks.

These are fun spur of the moment events held primairly in our Video Game related zones! They are first come first serve events, and there may not be any advanced warning. However follow us on Twitter and Facebook to get any hints or up to date information. These events are rewarded with Dragon Coins which can be collected to use in our Loot Market.

What are Dragon Coins?

Dragon Coins are wooden tokens with asigned vaules that can be earned in a few different ways. Playing in Lighting Touranments and Random Encounters will earn you Dragon Coins. Interacting with exhibitors or testing out new games can earn you Dragon Coins. Lastly as you Unlock Achievements through "The Game", featured in our Program, you can show proof at the Loot Market and collect your reward. Dragon Coins can later be used at the Loot Market to pick up sweet epic loot!

How old do I have to be to get into Gam3rCon?

Unsupervised children under the age of 12 will not be admitted. The Slobbering Troll beer garden at The Tenth is 21+, you will be required to show ID at the enternace, and bartenders will serve at their discretion. GamerCon showcases live art, plays and short movies, some of which might have adult language, themes, or suggestive mateiral. Parents are encouraged to attend children under 16 years of age, and use their own discretion. There is no babysitting available on site, see Gam3r's Code.

Is there public transportation to Gam3rCon?

NewSchool of Architecture and Design has easy access to the downtown trolley stop: City College Station. Info on public transportation in San Diego can be found HERE.

Where can we park?

Bring your change! There is metered parking in the neighborhood, enforced until 8pm Mon-Sat. There are several pay lots in the area as well.

Do you have any other events besides the convention?

Absolutely! We hold monthly Gam3 Days throughout the year as well as Gam3r Bowl in January. Gam3 Days are single day events that always feature our massive tabletop library of games and RPGs run by local GMs. Several Gam3 Days per year feature video game tournaments as well. Consessions will be available at these events. Our second biggest event of the year, Gam3r Bowl, is a three day gaming event in January held at The Tenth! The weekend also includes live music and a Video Game Arena with tournament prizes.
